Reducing Integration Risks with Sage Intacct

Finding the best integration solution for each part of your business

integration

Have you worked for a company that used a certain software not because it was great, but because it was “included”? I’m always suspicious of great manufacturing solutions that “include” accounting or good accounting solutions that “include” CRM or AMS, and you should be too.

You can’t be everything to everyone. So how do you find the best solution for each part of your business and have them all integrate?

Integration challenges

Integrations are complicated and have way too many moving parts. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t be done. Most modern-day systems recognize the need for integrating into other critical applications and have built their solutions to handle this need. If you are running a legacy ERP product, chances are integrations are really an import/export of files.

Sage Intacct, a flexible cloud financial management solution, for example, has an open API based on structured XML-RPC, a common industry standard making data calls easily accomplished. If you leverage a partner that has written multiple integrations and is familiar with the data structure, the process is much easier.

Now the integration is working and your systems are talking…and then it is time to upgrade. You:

  • Start with a review
  • Buy new hardware
  • Create a test environment
  • Pray that your integrations work after the upgrade.

But in many cases, the integrations just don’t work as they once did, requiring more development time, more downtime, and more expense. Back to the drawing board.

Product Upgrades with Sage Intacct

The good news is that Sage Intacct guarantees that product upgrades will not break custom integrations and solutions. Menlo Technologies has been supporting dozens of custom integrations within Sage Intacct, including complex bi-directional integrations passing hundreds of transactions daily as well as easy one-way push of data for statistical reporting.

None of these have broken.

Sage Intacct pushes out new features and functionality about four times a year and not once has one of our customer integrations stopped working. If you are coming from an older legacy system, you know how impressive that is. Today, with cloud computing, systems are architected in such a way that new features can be easily pushed out to all customers at one time.

The Sage Intacct solution is built on several tenets, delivering robust capabilities to empower a company to grow faster while being very efficient. The system is easy to use and easy to deploy which saves resources, time and cost. Since most businesses are evolving and constantly changing, the system is highly flexible to accommodate that change. Sage Intacct was recently awarded the highest score of core financials for lower mid-sized enterprises by Gartner.

Don’t be afraid of integrations. Choose the best solution and work with a strong integration partner like Menlo Technologies. We can help you accomplish the goal of choosing the best solutions for your company and ensuring that they are successfully integrated.
